Urban Radio Groups music division is headed by writer, musician Ben Dickerson whom has written and produced music for national and local clients. With a background in r&b and gospel, Dickerson began his music carrier at the age of about 13 when he began playing drums at his C.O.G.I.C. church and local high school funk band. He later started singing in his church and school choirs. He then received a vocal music scholarship to Rust College where he then performed with the World Famous Rust College Acapella Choir.
At Rust Ben studied Music and Audio Engineering. After finishing at Rust He then shared lead vocal responsibility with Larry Springfield for a locally known contemporary gospel group Telegram. After this Ben began producing tracks for locally known underground rap artist, gospel acts, jingles and voiceover work. Ben has produced Jingles for many brand names across the country including National Check Cashing, Catfish King, Tennessee Title Loans, Cara Hills Estates, and many others.
Ava Marie Macklin, musician and singer, attended Pfund’s Piano and Organ School of Music where she learned to harmonize, recognize and memorize melodies. She later attended workshops and conventions (under the leadership of the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark) to further develop her musical gifts and talents. From a child, she possessed musical inclination. She has sung with various choirs and groups. Her voice paved the way for her to become one of the lead singers in the choir as well as a sought-out soloist. In addition, she utilizes her musical talents recording projects with VOL Studios and with her family’s singing group, The Coleman Sisters. She serves as Minister of Music and Choir president at her local church. She has played the organ for over thirty-five years; in 1998, she received an Organist Award from Life Church of God in Christ.
Writing, producing, and engineering in 1984 was our first studio projects at Ardent Studios. Over the course of the 30 years, David began writing songs, mastered engineering, and opened VOL Studios in 2005 in the Memphis, TN. David has worked with several Memphis Artist & producers such as Andre Laflora, Ben Dickerson, Barry Jackson, Jeffrey Williams, Derrick Clark, Perfection, Renwick Williams, Empack, Maxine Banks, Larry Lewis, Kia Alexander (2-9), Leon Clayton, Jr.
Born and raised in the city of blues Memphis TN. Brittany was destined to leave her footprints on the art of music with her passion for singing. She’s contributed her talent to the art of music, through vocal discourse. Her talent has been honed in school choirs as a soloist and as an ensemble performer. She has awed her peers with her amazing voice range and talent. When entering High School she challenged her passion by participating in outside venues. Brittany exemplifies a connection to her audiences as she belts out heartfelt tunes that touch those who witness her dynamic performances. Brittany currently works in the studio on features with local Memphis Artist, as a backup singer and is featured on radio jingles as a part of Urban Radio Group.
